Peterson Park, located on Broadway and Fourth Avenue, forms the hub of Cokato. The 4.8-acre park is adjacent to both the business district and the elementary school and is the site of many community activities. Peterson Park is also home to Cokato’s premier annual event, held in August, the Corn Carnival. The original 2 acres of the park was donated in 1930 by C. R. Peterson, an influential and community-minded man. 

Playground equipment is open to the public outside of school hours. The picnic shelter may be reserved for events through City Offices.

Prairie Park, is a family friendly park located at the Builders Park Addition near Maple Ave SE.

Railroad Park is located on Broadway Avenue and 2nd Street West, adjacent to the business district. It is one of Cokato’s oldest parks, and a great spot to eat your lunch and watch for the train.

• Pickle ball court

Two tennis courts and a basketball court are located across the street from the Cokato Elementary school, between Fifth and Sixth streets. The tennis courts also have lines that accommodate the popular game of pickle ball.

Trailstone Park is located in the Trailstone development on the east side of Cokato on 53rd St SW just north of Highway 12.

The Dassel-Cokato Trail has served many a walker, runner, and biker since it was completed in the fall of 1996. The 4.8 mile paved trail connects Cokato to its neighboring town of Dassel as well as to the middle and high schools in between. The trail starts at the golf course on the west end of town, runs along Hwy 12 with some scenic wetland to the north,  and ends on the east side of Dassel near Spring Lake.

North of Cokato, Carl Johnson Park offers a beautiful 1 mile trail through scenic woods, great for hiking and exploring.

Located on County Road 4 about 4 miles north of town, Mud Lake County Park offers lake access and a scenic place to relax and roam.

Located just south of the elementary school on 6th street, the Cokato Community Pool has been keeping Cokato residents and visitors cool since 1992. The season starts in early June and ends mid to late August. The large pool has a deep end with a diving board, and there is also a smaller heated pool for younger kids. The community pool is available for rent for private events. Family Season, Single Season, Single Day Admission and 10 punch passes available.

Veterans Memorial Park, located on Johnson Ave. N., on the east side of Brooks Lake, has a variety of activities for people of all ages. The Cokato Kernels, a Minnesota Amateur Baseball team, hold their games at the baseball field in the summer. The park itself predates 1924 and has long been a source of recreation and amusement.

Reservations for the baseball field can be made through the City of Cokato.

Young people can enjoy sports activities year-round at Mooers Avenue Park, located at Eighth Street and Mooers Avenue. In the winter, skaters making use of the hockey rink and the open skating rink can take a warm-up break in the warming house provided by the city.

Unity Park, located at Broadway Avenue and 3rd Street Southwest, was formerly the site of the old State Bank of Cokato building which was damaged along with other buildings and homes in the city during the 1992 tornado. The former bank building was then torn down and the land donated to the City. In 1995, the park was built to memorialize residents’ efforts in restoring the city.

Field Crest Park is located on the north side of town in the Field Crest Development off of County Road 3. It is Cokato’s newest park, its playground equipment installed in 2018.

You'll find the Dassel-Cokato Early Childhood Center Playground bustling with little ones from preschool and ECFE classes during the school year, but it is open for all children to play on and explore year-round. A fence enclosing the area helps keep children safe, and there is a sidewalk, sandbox, and picnic table available to use as well.

Touted as one of the state’s top 25 county parks in County Parks of Minnesota, Collinwood Regional Park & Campground is a hidden gem in Cokato’s backyard that has something for everyone to enjoy. The 300+ acre park, comprised of hardwood forest, open meadows, a maintained beach and undeveloped shoreline, is located on the east side of Collinwood Lake, southwest of town.

Wildlife County Park is a small park north of town on the North Fork of the Crow River that offers river access and a canoe campground.

Three miles north of town on County Road 3, you'll find a piece of Cokato history and a place to stop and relax at Finnish Pioneer Park on Temperance Corner. The four historical buildings here -- a cabin built in 1866, a Savu Sauna (said to be the first sauna in Minnesota), Temperance Hall, and the old District #131 school house -- are maintained by the Cokato Finnish American Historical Society. The society also hosts special social and educational events at this site for every season of the year.
